Tribal Tours

Chandoori Sai has teamed up with one of the most experienced and respected eco-tribal tour operators in Orissa to bring you to us at Goudaguda, as well as take you on daily excursions of your choosing. If you are feeling a little adventurous come directly by train (5 hours) through the beautiful Araku Valley from Visakhapatnam and be met at Koraput (40 Klms) at lunch time or we can bring you by road up the Eastern Ghats from Visakhapatnam (200 klms). Another option is to come by road or rail from Bhubaneswar or Puri (500+ klms).  Email us and we will give you the options to choose from that most suit your other travel and tour plans.

With us at Chandoori Sai you will not be restricted to any rigid travel schedule except for the various weekly markets which fall on different days depending which markets you choose to visit, if you choose to visit.

We can visit the very primitive Bondas in the charming little hill community of Onakadeli to which the Bondas and Gadabas walk in for the weekly market or ‘haat’ to sell and barter  ‘country liquor’, their excess produce and handmade jewellery. Kotpad, famous for its all natural handmade textiles with their earthy colours and traditional patterns.

Terracotta pottery, making and firing - we have it all here at Chandoori Sai and in the village. Throw some clay on the wheel. Walk the cross country route with the locals from Goudaguda and surrounding villages to the Kakiriguma market (3 klm) held every Monday under a canopy of old mango trees.

Tribal tours of Orissa - Chandoori Sai Guesthouse

If you are not in the mood for touring you can simply explore the village and surrounding countryside with some of the local tribal girls as your guides who can also give you an insight to daily village life here in Goudaguda. You can also relax and enjoy the scenery and village sounds or simply spend the day with the potters and make your own.

Most people who visit us Chandoori Sai find more than the tribal tours, it is the village people and life that makes their holiday more than memorable and beckons their return.  The simple charm of these exotic tribal people is bewitching and refreshing and will have you yearning for a simple life without the pace and complexities of the world we have become conditioned to living with today.

When you stay at Chandoori Sai you open a door to an enchanting world that is as old as the village itself with traditions and festivals of origins that are timeless. Get involved and become part of village life and not a tourist looking from the outside or through your camera.
